Why is Reiki an ideal Holistic Therapy for Animals?

  • Reiki is gentle, noninvasive, painless and stress free
  • Reiki goes to the issues that need it most, even when unknown to the practitioner.
  • Reiki can be given hands on or from a distance and adapted to any problem an animal may face.
  • Reiki can do no harm to either recipient or practitioner.

A successful animal Reiki treatment is for the intention of the practitioner to be an open channel for the energy, and the acceptance the animal gives to the energy.

What does a typical treatment look like?

Each treatment is different as every animal will choose to receive Reiki in his or her own way. Below are two main signs that an animal is accepting the energy.

  1.  Signs of relaxation (yawning, deep relaxed breathing, sleeping, or giving kisses back to practitioner as a way of thanks).
  2.  The animal may come to and fro from the practitioner’s hands, walk away and then come back, lay down to rest and then get up and so on. This pattern may be repeated many times within the course of one 30 minute session.

Reiki can be given from outside an animal’s kennel, in a quiet area or even outdoors. Reiki can also be given to one animal at a time or groups of animals at one time.
